These services are available to students,
staff, and faculty members. Educational programs are offered on various
mental health topics. Faculty members can request presentations that address
the concerns of college students and that compliment course content.
Programs on student stress, career decision
making, and substance abuse are often requested. Counseling Service staff
will also consult with faculty members to develop programs suitable to
their instructional needs. Programs can be provided throughout the year,
however, to assure that your request can be met, it is advisable to contact
us at least two weeks before you want the program.
Consultations and referrals may address a
variety of issues including such things as concerns about a friend or
student who appears to be experiencing some personal/social problem, mental
health problem, needs problem solving assistance, may have individual
interpersonal and communication difficulties, may have to be kept overnight
for observation of a physical or mental health problem, and answers to
referral questions. Assistance in crisis management and emergency
