History
Diversity and Multicultural Affairs is an integral part
of Student Affairs. It was funded in fall 2001 with the purpose
of improving retention on students of color, as well as increasing
racial, ethnic, and gender diversity among undergraduate students
at UMC.
Mission
The University of Minnesota , Crookston Diversity and Multicultural
Affairs is committed to fostering a campus environment
of inclusion, knowledge, and understanding in which faculty,
staff, and students learn to value diversity and to respect individual
differences that enrich the University community.
Vision
The office is committed to embracing cross-cultural understanding
and enabling students, faculty and staff to meet the complex
demands of the 21 st century and the mission of the University
of Minnesota Crookston .
Goals
To accomplish our mission, we have set the following goals.
- Develop and implement programs designed to increase and improve diversity awareness at all levels of the university.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive system of responsibility, accountability, and recognition for increasing campus diversity and improving campus climate.
- Support outreach, community and service learning opportunities for multi-ethnic students, GLBT students, and women’s concerns.
