MISSION
The Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender (GLBT) Programs Office is dedicated to improving campus climate for gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender people at the University of Minnesota and to addressing the harmful effects of discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identification.

OUR HISTORY
In the fall of 1990, the President of the University of Minnesota established a Select Committee to investigate the campus climate as experienced by lesbians, gays, and bisexuals. The Committee found that lesbian, transgender, and gay people at the University faced discrimination, violence, and harassment. The committee made five recommendations, including the establishment of the GLBT Programs Office. Founded in December 1993, the GLBT Programs Office provides advocacy, information, referral, training, education, consultation, program development, community building programming, and support services for the entire University community.

OUR SERVICES
Through the following services, the GLBT Programs Offices assists bisexual, transgender, gay, and lesbian faculty, staff, and students (and our allies) in creating a supportive campus community while educating and providing resources for all members of the University of Minnesota about issues that impact the experiences of transgender, gay, lesbian, and bisexual people.
